America Is a Story, the Home of the Brave

It’s more of a myth than it is a country.

An American wearing a spacesuit floats in the void above Earth.

America is a tale we tell ourselves each day. It’s a story of possibility.

My family came here during the bad times because that myth moves us.

They came here to go to Howard University.

They came here ready and willing to deal with all possibilities, including those that might depend on how light reflects off their skin.

Your focus must be clear if you are to persevere. Until recent events clouded my vision, I had such focus.

Nowadays, I am more prone to the trap of emotional overload.

Everything changed when I realized that America is like outer space.

2021, A Space Odyssey.

The immense void that we call space has a stark beauty far different from how we see it in films or television.

And then there is a blue orb that is the only safe space for light-years, the place upon which we speed through existence like so many fireflies on a summer night.

The moon stalks our home.

Is it made of cheese? Sol is the master of ceremonies in this interstellar showcase, but few people know the name of this amusement.
